Stuff gets tossed up onto the shore all over the Outer Banks. Some places are favored by tides and position so that they receive a comparatively large amount of flotsam. The northern tip of Roanoke Island, North Carolina, is such a place.

Here I focused on, and liked inordinately, the tiny piece of driftwood at center crusted with barnacles.
