While walking in our neighborhood, I discovered one house whose owner is TERRIFIED of lightning. As one might well be: lightning is formidable. Even the Emperor Augustus was terrified of lightning, so who am I to question?

But the lightning rods the house owner put up (figure 2) have a world of interest in them thanks to their polished steel globe component (figure 1). This makes them revealers of the world and an example of the wonderful gifts the universe showers on us if we but look around. Gotta return with a tripod and 500 mm lens!
